Microsoft’s Open Source team organized a series of events across Asia Pacific last month (May 2017), which were aimed at sharing their cloud vision and support for running open source solutions on Azure. These open source roadshows attracted 1,500 registrations and over 800 attendees.
The topics covered across the events included a range of basic as well as advanced topics such as Getting Started with Linux Infrastructure on Azure, Big Data on Hadoop, Highly available LAMP applications, Deploying and Scaling Containers in Azure, Deploying Open Source Databases in Microsoft Azure, among others.
The highly interactive engagement was captured via social media using the hashtag #MSFTOpenDay (via Twitter), which gained over 700,000 impressions.
The first #MSFTOpenDay event kick-started in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 2nd of May. Dinesh Nair (Director of Developer Experience and Evangelism, Microsoft Malaysia) delivered the keynote address.
